The story

A cabochon red crystal sits dead-centre in a full pavé frame on true-red leather; below, a hand-strung chain alternates red and black crystals with silver spacers, swinging as they walk. Red is the boldest colour in old tradition. New-year couplets, wedding clothes: nerve and festivity, worn on the body.
